The 2009 Lamar Fair

Oh, the Lamar Fair, we had a blast! Our day
started early Saturday Morning, when Scott ran the Fair 5k. Unfortunately, du
e to the fact the girls and I had a long week, and I still can't seem to make my way out of Liberal without taking a wrong turn, somewhere along the way. (Or forgetting Scott's clothes to change into, and having to go back and get them) We did not arrive in time to see him finish the race, but, we did make it to show our support.

Despite the fact that the girls were still in their Pajamas.

Next, we were off to see the animals. Both of the girls were infatuated with all of the large animals on display, Sicily, especially. I think she may be a little more city than farmer, and being that close to so many different animals raised a lot of interesting questions, that may be suited for a later time in life.

After the animals it was time for the parade, which Eliza amazingly slept through. At least, until the fire engine came by and demonstrated that bull horn/honking sound they make, and then she was awake. And, luckily for all of the fair goers, she was happy to have woken up at the parade. That really could have gone one of two ways, the second not being very pretty. Sicily, loved the parade. The Lamar Parade floats are much more generous with their candy, than the parades we've attended at Springdale. Sicily was so excited, she would pick up one piece of candy, (and want to eat it right then) while the kids close to us would pick up the one's she'd forgotten about. Next year, she will really have it figured out.
After the parade, it was on to the rides, and to know one's surprise, Sicily had a blast. Since we went in the afternoon, we didn't have to wait long for the rides. Also, it was the best weather for the fair, in all of the years that we have attended. So, it was actually enjoyable, watching her ride, and Eliza even warmed up to the idea of riding a few of the rides, too. They both went on the bounce around, Sicily was about the same size as everyone else, Eliza was probably the smallest and had a hard time getting over some of the bumps, but it most certainly didn't stop her from trying.

Before we had left the parking lot to go home, Sicily had fallen asleep. We all had so much fun, and saw so many people that we hadn't seen since, well, the last time we were at the fair. Scott got to enjoy the Metro BBQ, the girls had a great time with, everything. And I enjoyed getting to see it all. Can't wait until next year.

We really had a great time at the fair, and
